pixelherodevOh wait, file a *bug report*. :P00:00
golinuxhttps://bugs.devuan.org/00:01
golinuxEmail is easiest for me.00:01
golinuxAre you sure the bug isn't upstream?00:01
golinuxMaybe not since it's in experimental.00:02
pixelherodevThe /etc/nanorc comes from the official nano release, and doesn't actually set any options by default.00:04
pixelherodevI want to propose that it set nano to display line numbers by default.00:04
fsmithredthere is no upstream for devuan-sanity00:16
fsmithredsubmit@bugs.devuan.org at head of message put Package:devuan-sanity00:16
golinux<fsmithred> there is no upstream for devuan-sanity00:41
golinuxDuh.  Senior moment.00:41
pixelherodevI haven't seen any messages since " I want to propose that it set nano to display line numbers by default." until just now. Did I miss anything?00:43
pixelherodevIRC bouncer assumed I was still there because the system crashed without disconnecting00:43
golinux<fsmithred> submit@bugs.devuan.org at head of message put Package:devuan-sanity\00:46
pixelherodevThanks00:48
fsmithredput a space after the colon00:50
fsmithred(do as I say, not as I do)00:50
jaromili doubt we'll fork a core package like nano to change a default in the conf11:24
onefangNano is core?  I just tried to remove it now, nothing depends on it.  Only reason it's there at all is I installed it out of habit, I rarely use it.14:27
onefangAnd only reason I used it recently is to check how well it's spell checker works, coz I realised I only use gedit for it's check spellin gas you type function, and was wondering if I could find a console editor that did that.14:31
onefangAs always, any text that mentions spell checkers gets it's very own typo.14:32
KatolaZonefang: nano is Priority: important14:37
KatolaZit gets installed in the minimal debootstrap system14:38
KatolaZalso, the proposed change is more about a preference than about functionality14:38
onefangWhich is what I did, AND I added it in by habit as well.14:38
onefangI guess nano is the least obnoxious editor for everyone.14:41
KatolaZno, that's ed :P14:44
onefangI said least, not most.  Pffft14:51
KatolaZI meant least :P14:58
onefangHmm, doesn't look like there are any console editors with spell check as you type.15:20
onefangI'll add it to the TODO for that editor that I should get back to writing some day.15:22
AntoFoxo/16:40
onefangDamn, looks like Debian broke JPEG 2000 support.  B-(18:18
onefangOr not.19:03
* onefang keeps tweaking.19:03
onefangOK, mostly broken.  Only ImageMagick can view them, and only if an obscure library is installed.19:12
golinuxQuestion about Devuan's LTS status.  Are we now on LTS?  https://dev1galaxy.org/viewtopic.php?pid=10346#p1034620:22
golinuxIf so should probably mention that on the website etc.20:25
golinuxAccording to https://www.debian.org/releases/ , Jessie is now "obsolete stable release"20:28
onefangOtherwise known as oldstable I think.20:28
golinuxSo do we need to enable the LTS repos?  I'm not quite sure how that works.20:28
golinuxonefang, please look at that page and the post on d1g20:29
golinuxStretch is now 'oldstable'20:30
golinuxOops no.  Looking again, I think that may be a typo on the Debian site.20:30
onefangThat page says Jessie is oldstable, stretch is stable.20:30
onefang'Debian 9 ("stretch") — current stable release'20:31
onefangOK, they don't use the term oldstable on that page, but they do on other pages.  Debian docs are not always consistent.20:31
golinuxWhy don't they just use the term "old stable"/20:31
golinuxExactly.   So is jessie not EOL yet?20:32
golinuxI haven't heard anything about that.20:32
onefangDebian Jessie isn't EOL yet, otherwise I would not have gotten updates yesterday.20:32
golinuxIt looks like it went to LTS https://wiki.debian.org/LTS on JUne 1720:34
golinux Debian 8 Jessie 386, amd64, armel and armhf from 17th June 2018 to June 30, 202020:35
golinuxDoesn't that require enabling athe LTS repo?20:35
golinuxIf so, why hasn't there been any mjention of it?20:36
onefangI don't think there is a LTS repo as such, LTS just means it gets supported for a longer time then usual.  At least that's how Ubuntu does things.20:37
golinuxYou're right as per this page: https://wiki.debian.org/LTS/Using20:39
golinuxThanks for helping me sort it.20:39
golinuxI can answer that question now.20:40
onefangSo another two years before Debian Jessie EOL then.20:40
onefangYou are welcome.20:40
gnu_srs1KatolaZ: What's the status, and where to find the repo, of antofox packages for mate?23:39
