DocScrutinizer05golinux: may I set you +o so you see quieted users?00:05
DocScrutinizer05fsmithred: ^^^ you too?00:06
DocScrutinizer05meh, you know how to drop +o if you mind being opped ;-)00:07
DocScrutinizer05:-S01:15
DocScrutinizer05to unset "moderated mode":  /mode #devuan -q $~a01:17
golinuxThese f'ing spammers are a royal pain . . .01:27
DocScrutinizer05there's a huge annoying problem with +q quiet mode: you're not able to change your nick as long as you're in a channel where any ban incl +q applies to you01:36
DocScrutinizer05I.E. any non-authenticated users in this channel can't change their nick now, until a) channels removes +q $~a  b) user authenticates  c) user leaves this channel01:37
DocScrutinizer05golinux: anyway the last one (TheoM@168-205-38-212.wantel.net.br)) should have been invisible to channel at large, only visible to chanops. I've set you +o so you notice when a regular unauthenticated user starts feeling pissed about not being visible for other users01:42
DocScrutinizer05see chanlog01:43

XenguyThis is state sponsored level activity04:58
XenguyAm I wrong?04:58
XenguyI have no real evidence, just a feeling04:58
furrywolfseems more like standard "I'm pissed I got klined" trolling to me.04:59
XenguyBut def a concerted effort to spam/DOS the IRC space04:59
Xenguyreally04:59
XenguyOK, who knows04:59
XenguyIt's cross-channel and concerted04:59
furrywolfand exactly the same as every other script kiddie does.  download annoy-bot, run.05:00

Xenguyaha05:01
XenguyThe plot thickens05:01
erikwbcranky kid05:02
XenguyAttacking at least 2 different IRC networks at once (if that is indeed the case) ??05:02
XenguyMaybe05:03
gnarfaceit's nothing new.  it's been going on for years, this is just an escalation05:12
DocScrutinizer05Xenguy: furrywolf erikwb  you should not have seen any spam since [26.07.18 01:15:52] <DocScrutinizer05> :-S05:13

LeanderHi, for some reason I can't reproduce my DHCP problems any more, it works again, without me changing anything...09:36
LeanderI really hate this windowsy feeling, it works but I have no idea why09:37
xkr47Leander, you should run tcpdump to see what happens :)09:52
Leanderxkr47: yes, I was really annoyed when I realised I hadn't installed it before10:10
DocScrutinizer05Leander: kill avahi, often works wonders to stop random behavior in DHCP14:13
DocScrutinizer05re >><Xenguy> Maybe some documentation for newbies, about how to establish a good configuration with nickserv ?<< I recommend using SASL whenever available in your client. It's incredibly useful and convenient14:17
amarsh04back home and wasted several hours by forgetting to hold back on upgrading timidity* when I updated other packages14:23
LeanderDocScrutinizer05: I didn't know avahi was even installed, I removed that thing prompto14:56
bozoniusjust created a beowulf VM which I am going to use to help test beowulf (I mean, if you guys want help)16:04
bozoniusstarted with ascii and upgraded (changed sources :%s/ascii/beowulf/g)16:04
bozoniusupgrade went OK, though it broke and suggested using --fix-missing16:05
bozoniusAfter completing the upgrade, I still had some updates to do (about 50 packages iirc)16:05
bozoniusmy focus of testing for the moment will be scribus 1.4.7, which seems to only be available on beowulf (sid is it on debian?)16:06
bozoniusplease let me know if you need testing for other packages16:06
bozoniusMy problem, atm, is that I am missing the vera sans font packages -- is this expected?16:07
bozoniusI see I can get them from the dejavu-fonts web page, but I am asking if there is a more "official" way to get these for beowulf.16:07
bozoniustia16:08
gnarfacetry the package ttf-bitstream-vera16:08
bozoniusah, ok16:08
bozoniusthanks gnarface16:09
gnarfacedejavu fonts should be in there too16:09
bozoniusso, it is not installed by default then?16:09
gnarfacedepends on what you installed i guess16:09
gnarface i can't tell you off the top of my head what cases it should be and what cases it shouldn't be16:10
bozoniuswell, I started with ascii from a net install and upgraded16:10
gnarfacei can tell you though that every packaage named starting with "ttf-" or "fonts-" is a font package though16:10
bozoniusright, ok16:10
gnarfacei have ttf-bitstream-vera installed here because it at least used to be the default in firefox once upon a time, i don't know if it still is16:11
bozoniuswhat needs testing -- is there a list or tracker for this?16:11
gnarfacebugs.devuan.org i guess16:12
bozoniusI'd like to help out a bit16:12
bozoniusok, I'll take a look at that16:12
Joerg-Neo900you might want to do /umode +R to block spammers sending PM now16:44
_abc_Hello. fsmithred ? Is it safe to install glut + libglut on devuan ascii ?17:46
_abc_I vaguely remember something about some gl incompatibility? I may have misread? Incompatible with devuan?17:47
mnnunesq18:52
fsmithred_abc_, I'm not aware of a problem with that.19:01
marsanghasHi all! My vps host allows install of Debian (Jessie), and has no problem with me migrating it to Devuan ASCII afterwards. So that's great. In the migration article it only says how to get rid of systemd and install sysvinit. The installer has the option to install openrc in expert mode, the migration article ( https://git.devuan.org/dev1fanboy/Upgrade-Install-Devuan/blob/master/migrate-to-ascii.md ) doesn't mention openrc.20:58
marsanghasIs it as easy as apt-get install openrc instead of sysvinit-core ?20:58
marsanghas(apart from all the other steps in the article ofcourse)20:59
aggroramarsanghas: I can't give you a good answer to that. Probably someone else though.. Why don't you try it out first in a virtual machine?21:35
marsanghasThanx for the response aggrora. Yeah, I'll go try it out. Directly on de VPS though, I can always reinstall. But I though maybe someone knew :-)21:43
aggroraWell, people here do probably know but timezones also do their part. However, I don't know if there is any video or similar that document the process of upgrading/migrating..22:40
aggroraIt would be a good thing to have :)22:41
aggroraGood luck and good night!22:41
