kreyrenWhat is the devuan-way to get wine-staging? https://hastebin.com/raw/edugasifow02:08
kreyrenWas told to follow instructions on https://wiki.winehq.org/Debian02:17
filipdevuan_tried that method? https://wiki.winehq.org/Debian02:25
filipdevuan_ohh nvm sorry it's the same link ;o02:25
filipdevuan_i used to install wine-stable that way back in a day when i used devuan ascii02:26
brocashelmi must say, i am simply blown away by how snappy and stable refracta is. it's obviously devuan, but this is a more refined version of it. those added firmware packages in user's /home and the live usb/dvd software definitely make it pretty nifty. glad that xfce is championed here. the only DE that really delivers for me09:15
brocashelmthis 100% made the switch for me09:15
brocashelmi am trying to get packages as recent as possible within beowulf. i just commented out all sources except for beowulf-backports and saw 93 packages in total that need to be upgraded. would you advise against this, or is it safe to try this method?18:40
golinuxI would only use backports for a specific package if you need a newer version.   Upgrading everything could create problems18:45
tuxd3vhello all :)18:57
tuxd3vI am here with a strange problem..maybe I already found a solution need to test18:58
tuxd3vI am installing : 'libnewt-dev'18:58
tuxd3vits soname version: 0.52.20-818:58
tuxd3vin ascii my lua bindings for it were working using 0.52.19 'libnewt-dev'18:59
tuxd3vnow in beowulf I can install the lua bindings from here:18:59
tuxd3vhttps://github.com/tuxd3v/lnewt18:59
tuxd3vBut when I try ti load the library from the inside of test options19:00
tuxd3vI get a weird error19:00
tuxd3v'lua: core and library have incompatible numeric types'19:00
tuxd3vI am looking to this, and I tough maybe it was because I am in i686, but packages are for i38619:01
tuxd3vbut now it seems that because the sonames are diferent maybe gives me that error19:01
tuxd3vI will try to jump the binding library to 0.52.20, and test again with 'march=i386'19:02
tuxd3vMaybe someone that works with lia and Lua C libraries could help?19:02
tuxd3vI am having a hard time to run the tests..19:03
tuxd3valwasy errors19:03
tuxd3vnope changing tyhe soname doesn't fix the problem :/19:04
tuxd3vlua: core and library have incompatible numeric types19:04
tuxd3vstill without luck19:06
tuxd3vAny idea?19:06
tuxd3vthis is my output of compilation of lnewt:19:11
tuxd3vhttps://paste.debian.net/1154388/19:11
tuxd3vis seems ok19:11
tuxd3v'libnewt-dev' is i386, and I am forcing my lnewt library to be also i38619:12
tuxd3veven with the same soname, it fails19:12
tuxd3vI have this lib compiled : lnewt.so.0.52.2019:14
tuxd3vcould it be that I need to create a symlink with  lnewt.so.019:14
tuxd3v?19:15
tuxd3vwell seems the culprit was # -DLUA_C89_NUMBERS in CFLAGS :S19:28
tuxd3vwith lnewt 0.52.19 I need it19:29
tuxd3vwith libnewt 0.52.20 I can't use it...crazy19:29
specinglibnewt bites19:29
tuxd3vspecing, indeed, I am for seeral hours around this problem, I was even compiling for i686, intead of i386, and to so testing, even considered changing to arm devices to see if the problem persisted.. after all one option that is needed in previouis version, and in the beowulf one we can't build with it..19:31
tuxd3vseeral -> several19:32
tuxd3vmaybe the change came from here: liblua5.3-dev: /usr/include/lua5.3/luaconf.h19:46
jxyznis guestfish known to be broken under devuan?20:01
jxyznit doesn't start for me, and running the libguestfs-test-tool diagnostic tool appears to show supermin (upon which guestfish relies) has some systemd dependencies.20:04
tuxd3vwhat is guestfish?20:06
jxyzna tool for examining and editing virtual machine disk images.20:06
jxyznpart of libguestfs-tools20:07
tuxd3vit seems nice20:08
jxyznit comes in handy.20:08
tuxd3vis as if you were running on that block device, right?20:08
tuxd3vI mean ...navigating20:08
tuxd3v:)20:08
jxyznit's a little strange; it fires up a virtual machine that runs out of a ramdisk, mounts the desired disk image, and implements a shell of sorts for navigating, reading, writing, and modifying the contents.20:09
tuxd3vit seems nice :)20:10
jxyznfor myself, i find it a less error-prone method through with to make changes and edits within a .qcow2 image; i've had bad luck (fs corruption, usually) with other methods i've tried.20:12
jxyzn*through which20:13
specingqemu-nbd + losetup partscan20:17
jxyznyeah, that's how i've wound up with unfixable fs errors several times. :)20:17
tuxd3vits taking some shape :)20:18
tuxd3vhttps://postimg.cc/QV62xKTS20:18
tuxd3vsee ^^ if you recognize the there of lnewt lib? :)20:18
tuxd3vthe theme ;)20:19
tuxd3vI think I will ned the help of golinux to create a devuan theme by default for the library :)20:20
brocashelmdevuan is the best. all hail devuan! :D20:36
tuxd3vAye20:41
tuxd3v:)20:42
brocashelmgetting over win$hit/crapO$ is only half the battle; $hitterD is the other half20:56
golinuxtuxd3v: That is pretty eye-shattering!21:02
tuxd3vgolinux, yeah, I need to test it on 256 colors and then on 8 color terminal :S22:32
tuxd3vheheh22:32
tuxd3vcheck is on 256 color terminal:22:36
tuxd3vhttps://postimg.cc/mtsCr4cr22:36
tuxd3vits a lot diferent..22:36
