golinux | Can anyone access d1g? | 00:25 |
---|---|---|
n4dir | golinux: ? | 00:28 |
n4dir | what means the shortcut? | 00:28 |
golinux | dev1galaxy The forum | 00:31 |
n4dir | let me try. one second | 00:31 |
n4dir | works here | 00:31 |
gnarface | works here | 00:31 |
golinux | Yeah. It was an internal problem | 00:31 |
golinux | Thanks for checking. | 00:32 |
n4dir | you host it, right? | 00:32 |
sgage | working fine here | 00:35 |
Xenguy | Trip report: was able to access the dark side on Devuan, and install VSCode from the M$ apt repo. Went off without a hitch (so far). Used the instruction on this page: https://linuxize.com/post/how-to-install-visual-studio-code-on-debian-10/ | 00:55 |
Xenguy | Python support, and Vim emulation, are a couple of clicks away | 00:56 |
Xenguy | This is on Beowulf | 00:57 |
tuxd3v | Xenguy, you are surfing on the dark side.. :) | 01:00 |
Xenguy | Oh yeah, don't I know it ; -) | 01:01 |
Xenguy | It's for a training course, else I wouldn't be here | 01:01 |
tuxd3v | :) | 01:01 |
tuxd3v | Enjoy your stay | 01:02 |
Xenguy | Real endgame is to get similar functionality going on Spacemacs, but that takes more time and effort. All in good time : -) | 01:02 |
tuxd3v | :) | 01:02 |
rwp | Remember that when you stare into the abyss too long that the abyss stares back. | 01:05 |
Xenguy | Great line, sounds like Lovecraft 8 -D | 01:06 |
Xenguy | I (allegedly) turned of 'telemetry', FWIW | 01:07 |
Xenguy | *off | 01:07 |
ELDIEGO | Hi everyone | 01:07 |
Xenguy | You're right on time ELDIEGO | 01:07 |
ELDIEGO | ? | 01:07 |
Xenguy | Good timing, pay no attention to this man behind the curtain, please continue | 01:07 |
ELDIEGO | Oh ok | 01:08 |
Xenguy | .oO( Naturally I must celebrate my nefarious success with a smoke ) | 01:09 |
sgage | The 'abyss' quote does sound a bit Lovecraftian, | 01:11 |
sgage | But it's actually none other than Friedrich Nietzsche :-) | 01:13 |
sgage | "He who fights with monsters might take care lest he thereby become a monster. | 01:19 |
sgage | And if you gaze for long into an abyss, the abyss gazes also into you." | 01:19 |
ELDIEGO | So i am using Devuan testing (chimaera) and i ran into some problems with bluetooth. I installed bluez-obexd package and i couldn't start the obexd daemon because there is no service script compatible with openrc. I also extracted the .DEB package and i noticed there is only a service script compatible with systemd. As a workaround i managed to | 01:22 |
ELDIEGO | start that daemon at every boot with XFCE autostart feature to transfer files from one device to another and viceversa. If you can resolve this problem, it will be really appreciated :) | 01:22 |
Xenguy | sgage: Truly? If so, sooooooo good! | 01:28 |
Xenguy | Beautiful, you made my evening | 01:29 |
sgage | Yes, it's Nietzsche. Those who dally with MS should pay heed :-) | 01:30 |
Xenguy | Aye | 01:30 |
sgage | :-) | 01:31 |
Xenguy | sgage: /join #devuan-offtopic and I'll tell you another real, not fictional, story about Nietzsche | 01:32 |
sgage | I'm all ears - I'll see if they'll let me join... | 01:33 |
Xenguy | Don't see you so far | 01:35 |
bru | fsmithred: Thanks for your help, but this seemed to much of a hassle to mess with the xorg.conf. I can buy a proper DVI to DVI cable for my monitor and it might work just fine | 02:38 |
gnarface | fsmithred: sounds like they pulled the sysvinit script from bluex-obexd too | 03:16 |
Xenguy | Does Devuan need a tiger team of sysvinit script coders? | 03:27 |
Xenguy | VV Sign up here | 03:27 |
fsmithred | shit | 03:28 |
Xenguy | My advice: steal it from bsd | 03:28 |
Xenguy | hah | 03:28 |
fsmithred | or from an older version of the package | 03:28 |
Xenguy | You sign up fsmithred , I'll sign up | 03:29 |
gnarface | i'm sure in most cases you can just copy forward the wheezy one with minor or noedits | 03:29 |
Xenguy | No pressure = ) | 03:29 |
gnarface | minor or no edits* | 03:29 |
Xenguy | That's good to know, sounds more doable | 03:29 |
fsmithred | there was no init script in the ascii version | 03:30 |
Xenguy | dang | 03:31 |
gnarface | hmm, it's no surprise to me that it might have been missing for a while. i think obex has fallen out of favor | 03:31 |
gnarface | (with cellphone OS vendors) | 03:31 |
gnarface | it's been a couple generations since i've had a phone that supports it but i don't buy fancy phones either so i guess i'm not sure about that | 03:32 |
gnarface | but it seemed to me like everything just gave up on it and supplanted the feature with usb drive mode | 03:33 |
Charion | hello everybody | 13:25 |
Charion | anyone had troubles installing Devuan ? | 13:26 |
IanJ | I had trouble migrating, but not installing. | 13:41 |
IanJ | Oh, he left. | 13:42 |
clort | 24 | 14:19 |
I_am_nobody777 | fsmithred: Hi , Missed your answer . Luckily , the irc is publically archived . so , I read your reply . There is no "access" option , I am on your experimental "uefi" minimal live iso . change in the su package , that explains it . | 17:35 |
I_am_nobody777 | Hi , After installing , I enabled the non-free to install intel microcode , but apt-get throws error ."Depends iucode-tool but it is not installable " " E: unable to correct problems , you have held broken packages " . I am using beowulf on a 64bit intel laptop and the apt version is 1.8.2.2 . | 17:58 |
mason | Argh, and he's gone again. | 18:19 |
mason | I_am_nobody777, if you see this in logs, note that it's often necessary to "apt update" or similar in live environments before the environments knows about all the relevant/available packages. | 18:19 |
fsmithred | I_am_nobody777, I made the boot menu wrong on the uefi minimal live iso. At the boot menu, press 'e' to edit. Go down to the linux line and remove 'username=devuan' and add 'noautologin 4' then press ctrl-x to boot. | 20:21 |
* the-void says hello | 22:13 | |
bru | Greetings | 22:14 |
