DashiePie | how can I use a different java runtime to run a jar? | 01:06 |
---|---|---|
Xenguy | You probably want #java, if it exists | 01:07 |
DashiePie | no one can tell me how to use a different java jdk runtime here? even when I have both 11 and 8 installed? | 01:08 |
Xenguy | WTF would I know about java? | 01:08 |
Xenguy | This is a devuan support channel | 01:09 |
Xenguy | But feel free to idle, who knows? | 01:09 |
gnarface | DashiePie: i think you just need to set 1 or 2 environment variables, the path to the other java home and maybe something else... | 01:24 |
DashiePie | I was hoping there would be an easier solution, but I don't really know where devuan stores the jdk runtimes | 01:25 |
rrq | DashiePie: /usr/lib/jvm/java-8-openjdk-amd64/bin/java -jar blah.jar | 01:25 |
gnarface | thanks, rrq | 01:25 |
rrq | and "dpkg -S bin/X" is often useful to find where a program X got installed | 01:28 |
DashiePie | thank you | 01:30 |
Guest60 | thinking of making an LFS install in the near future, i was thinking of using tcc to compile stuff | 02:47 |
KREYREN | i have /lib/systemd/system/oxem-node.service how can i run that on devuan? | 16:12 |
KREYREN | openrc supports these right | 16:12 |
gnarface | probably not, but i don't know | 16:18 |
gnarface | you should be looking for a script in /etc/init.d/ | 16:18 |
fsmithred | KREYREN, here's a script to convert service files to init scripts. http://www.trek.eu.org/devel/sysd2v/ | 16:34 |

KREYREN | fsmithred, ah i was using openrc.run thanks ^-^ | 17:00 |

mojoman | Hi all. I’m stumped with a sound problem that I’d thought I see if anyone here could give input on. Running Devuan Beowulf 5.10.0-1-amd64 on an Intel NUC. Analog sound/Mic from the 3,5 mm has suddenly stopped working. I use PuleAudio, has worked liked a charm before with pacucontrol allowing. Now, the HDMI works but not 3,5mm. | 18:53 |
mojoman | I’ve done the obvious stuff, controlled alsamixer and all looks good as far as I can tell. When I have analog output and is playing something, the mixer shows the correct output (e.g. opera) and the bars moving as audio is played. The same regardless ofd source (e.g. VLC, Clementine etc). But no sound. If I switch to HDMI sound works fine. It’s not a hardware issue as everything works on other OS. | 18:54 |
mojoman | Has anyone here experienced anything similar? I starting to suspect vodoo. | 18:54 |
mojoman | Any ideas is appreciated because I'm all out of them. | 18:54 |
mojoman | Sorry, my bad, running Chimeara, not beowulf | 18:55 |
mojoman | I also tried nicking my kids external usb sound card. When I plug that in it shows up, and I can choose that in the mixer. It works fine. | 19:01 |
golinux | mojoman: Hey! Nice to see you here!! | 19:10 |
gnarface | mojoman: it worked in beowulf? | 19:42 |
gnarface | mojoman: first i'd try it without pulseaudio | 19:43 |
mojoman | goLinux: Hi, nice to see you! :-) | 20:35 |
mojoman | So, yeah, it worked in Beowulf and it worked earlier in chimeara | 20:35 |
mojoman | I've tried it without pulseaudio but it didn't work then either | 20:35 |
mojoman | Re-installed pulseaudio and it started to work. | 20:36 |
mojoman | At next boot it had stopped working. | 20:36 |
mojoman | So I tried a new re-install but this time it didn't work | 20:36 |
mojoman | I see no pattern at all and I'm totally stumped here | 20:36 |
ErRandir | maybe the alsactl settings restored at boot conflict with pulseaudio somehow? | 21:05 |
mojoman | ErRandir, Yeah, I suspect it is alsa somehow. Any ideas on how to check it? | 21:18 |
gnarface | it should show up in the boot log | 21:22 |
gnarface | the call to alsactl store/restore | 21:22 |
gnarface | it just goes in a static file | 21:22 |
gnarface | called asound.state or something like that, i forget exactly where | 21:23 |
gnarface | but then pulseaudio probably reads that and generates something of it's own elsewhere | 21:24 |
AnimaInvicta | according to alsactl --help, it's in /var/lib/alsa/asound.state, if that helps. | 21:37 |
mojoman | thanks, I just poked around in there | 21:37 |
mojoman | iface CARD | 21:37 |
mojoman | name 'Front Headphone Jack' | 21:37 |
mojoman | value false | 21:37 |
mojoman | and | 21:38 |
mojoman | iface CARD | 21:38 |
mojoman | name 'Front Headphone Jack' | 21:38 |
mojoman | value false | 21:38 |
mojoman | I got a headset jack fron so I'm guessing this is it | 21:38 |
mojoman | *front* | 21:38 |
mojoman | But the weird thing is it show as giving output in the mixer | 21:39 |
ErRandir | change value to true I guess | 21:39 |
mojoman | directly in the /var-file? | 21:39 |
ErRandir | sure it's just text. Reload it with 'alsactl restore'. | 21:40 |
mojoman | yeah, I made a copy of it that I edited, I'll try reloading with that specific file | 21:42 |
ErRandir | normally when you reboot it does 'alsactl store' to get the current settings back after the boot. | 21:43 |
gnarface | was there headphones plugged in? | 21:45 |
gnarface | i've had problems with headphone auto-mute mode not firing reliably | 21:45 |
mojoman | I tried alsactl restore -f newfile | 21:45 |
mojoman | But that didn't work | 21:46 |
mojoman | yeah, the headphones was plugged in | 21:46 |
mojoman | Tried it with alsactl init as well. No go | 21:47 |
mojoman | but gave following output | 21:48 |
mojoman | alsa-lib parser.c:260:(error_node) UCM is not supported for this HDA model (HDA Intel PCH at 0xc0b20000 irq 147) | 21:48 |
mojoman | alsa-lib main.c:1014:(snd_use_case_mgr_open) error: failed to import hw:0 use case configuration -6 | 21:48 |

mojoman | Hardware is initialized using a generic method | 21:48 |
ErRandir | so 2 soundcards. Are you sure you're editing the correct settings in alsamixer? | 21:49 |
jess | did mojoman get correctly or incorrectly kicked for spam | 21:49 |
jess | i hope it was incorrectly | 21:50 |
gnarface | it's just a bot | 21:50 |
gnarface | we have problems with spammers | 21:50 |
gnarface | don't paste more than 3 lines at once | 21:50 |
mojoman | My bad, pasted too many lines. | 21:51 |
jess | i'll remove the ban on your other address then | 21:51 |
mojoman | Thanks | 21:51 |
gnarface | if there's USB devices also plugged into the machine, they may not come up in the right order every time, that could explain it sometimes working after reboots | 21:51 |
rwp | That's a Freenode global bot too as far as I know... | 21:51 |
mojoman | Had to start a vpn to get back in :-) | 21:51 |
jess | removed. | 21:51 |
mojoman | Thanks, appreciate it | 21:51 |
jess | (try to use pastebins instead) | 21:51 |
mojoman | noted | 21:52 |
mojoman | anyway, the realtek card is the internal card. | 21:54 |
mojoman | Could be the use case configuration -2 that causes the problem. | 21:54 |
mojoman | I'm going to try to edit the standard conf file, and see if there is any difference on next boot | 21:55 |
mojoman | Thanks for the advice. | 21:55 |
