AliHaidarWe need a pep rally for Devuan06:21
rrqor, you could test a 5.0.0-rc4 installer-iso in some interesting se case or three06:24
rrqand then drop some feedback about that06:25
rrq.. interessting use case ..06:26
rrqasch! .. interesting use case ..06:27
xrogaanwhat's an interesting use case?16:53
fsmithredxrogaan, use your imagination (or past experience) to come up with an interesting use case to test.17:00
xrogaanI rarely have to install from iso, did twice in the past 5 years.17:01
fsmithreddebootstrap?17:02
xrogaanI don't need to make so many installs. I don't have past experiences per say. Last big distro I used was a rolling release, so...17:07
brocashelmi never reinstall the same distro, unless there were unfixable problems. it's much more convenient to just clone the partitions and modify them to my liking. saves me countless hours on adjusting configs20:31
masonRescue media makes for a lovely tool.20:39
orest58008Hello everyone! I'm new to Devuan, is manual(Arch-like) installation possible? I have BTRFS partition and I want to install Devuan into @, not touching @home or any other subvolumes.22:30
masonorest58008: yes, you can do a debootstrap-based install - not sure if there are current docs for this, but entirely possible22:31
orest58008P.S. I'm also new to IRC, so sorry if I've broken some of the rules and\or etiquette22:31
gnarfaceorest58008: i think you're probably conceptualizing a debootstrap install, but fyi you can also just tell the regular installer not to format your home partition...22:36
orest58008gnarface: I've never installed Debian with btrfs, are there some tutorials on using regular installer with btrfs?22:37
gnarfaceorest58008: off the top of my head i don't actually know if support is included for it actually there. for the btrfs part now that i think of it, you might have to go with debootstrap. stick around though, some people use btrfs here who would know.22:40
gnarfaceif it does support it, the trick would be do use manual partitioning22:40
gnarfaceand there should be plenty of tutorials for that22:40
gnarfacenot that i have links to on hand, but that shouldn't be hard to find22:41
