crhyloveHey fellas!  Doing a fresh Daedalus install, Google Chrome Remote Desktop isn't working.01:03
crhyloveIt keeps sending me back to Accept & Install, even though I've installed the package several times now.01:04
gnarfaceis that a package from non-free or something you downloaded from google?01:04
crhyloveYeah, Downloaded from Google.01:07
crhyloveI use it to remotely manage servers.01:07
crhylovefast/easy.  Usually.01:07
gnarfacei'm sure there's a better alternative that's already in the repo but if you can find a relevant error i might be able to guess at a solution01:07
crhyloveWhen I try to remove it via synaptic it says:01:08
crhylovepre-removal subprocess returned error exit status 12701:08
gnarfacegonna need more than that01:09
gnarfacepreferrably something from before you're removing it01:10
crhyloveSame error from apt in the console.01:10
crhyloveThe install all went fine, but it never showed up as something managable remotely, which was the whole point.01:11
crhyloveNow I can't remove it.  :/01:11
gnarfacethe pre-rm script is on there... i forget where off the top of my head but you should be able to easily see it01:11
crhylovesub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error (code 1)01:12
crhyloveDoing a quick init 6 on it....01:13
crhyloveHmmm  Think I found the error.01:15
gnarface?01:16
crhyloveLooks like: /var/lib/dpkg/info/chrome-remote-destop.prerm line 12: systemctl command not found01:16
crhyloveSorry for the slow.  Have to type by hand, no copy paste.01:16
gnarfacethat tells us a lot01:17
gnarfaceand i bet if you find another complaint about missing systemctl it'll explain why it didn't start either01:18
plasma41crhylove: Can you share the full chrome-remote-destop.prerm file in a pastebin?01:18
crhyloveYeah, probably can.... Give me a sec.01:19
crhylovepatebin.com/R2PnucFP01:26
crhyloveer pastebin.com/R2PnucFP01:27
crhyloveIs there a way to force remove it without letting it try to run it's stupid broken script?01:34
gnarfaceyou can just make the script exit 0 and it'll "work" but you should probably try to figure out what it's doing to see if any of it needs to actually run01:35
plasma41crhylove: If you install the systemctl-service-shim package, you should be able to remove the chrome-remote-destop package without issue.02:03
crhyloveGood plan.  Thanks.02:06
crhyloveAfter installing the shim, I completely removed everything, and then tried again with Google Chrome rather than Chromium.02:24
crhyloveSuccess!02:24
plasma41crhylove: My guess is that the chrome-remote-desktop package from Google tries to run its daemon as a systemd service which doesn't work on Devuan without a kludge.02:28
