* sicelo will get an N9 mid-March ... depending on availability of time, may like to play with leste on it09:00
buZz:)09:00
buZzi'm still hunting for a cheapish Pocophone F109:00
buZzbuuuut i already saw mainline efforts had issues with OTG :(09:01
siceloi guess you should add "for now"09:50
sicelothat SoC is seeing a lot of activity, and what doesn't work today may very well work the next day09:50
buZzhmhm09:50
buZzit does look like nice hw, but mehhhh i so want a device with qwerty09:51
siceloyou have d4 ;-)10:27
siceloor if you want something a little more powerful, could obtain ppp10:28
rafael2kthe pp 1 is also powerful imhp10:29
buZzi dont want a -little- more powerful :P10:29
buZzpp1 is quite fast, just slow display10:29
rafael2kat least for watching movies, it is ok10:31
buZzyeah they're just 30fps usually :)10:32
buZzbut i dont need videoplayback or something, just a linux desktop-ish10:33
rafael2kso, it is fine10:46
rafael2kruns pretty well... especially with the hardware keyboard10:47
buZzare the current hw keyboards they sell fixed?10:50
buZzfrom that charger bug the early ones had10:50
rafael2kso far... one week using it10:55
rafael2kall good until now10:56
rafael2kyou must not connect the changer to the phone, just to the kbd, this is a limitation, but not an issue if you remember about it10:56
rafael2k*charger10:56
rafael2know it comes even with a manual explaining this limitation10:57
rafael2kthe good thing is that the "real" USB port is now free for whatever hardware you need10:58
rafael2kcan even connect a DVB dongle and watch TV10:58
rafael2k: )10:58
buZzrafael2k: seems pretty bad10:59
buZzwhen are they expected to fix it?11:00
rafael2kthis is not fixable11:00
rafael2kit is a design "feature"...11:00
rafael2k https://github.com/maemo-leste/leste-config/pull/3611:00
rafael2kvolume keys, rfc ^11:01
Wizzuprafael2k: does it still brick the keyboard though?11:22
rafael2kWizzup, what exactly?11:43
Wizzupplugging in to the other usb poart11:54
rafael2kI will not try11:55
rafael2kbut it can cause damage, yes11:55
rafael2kso, I'll need to work a bit more in the keyboard, also include some stuff from here: https://codeberg.org/phalio/ppkb-layouts/11:56
rafael2kI realize some layout issues11:57
uvos__honesty a cirical failure, pretty insane they still sell it like that11:57
rafael2kwe'll need the xkb layouts added to maemo11:58
rafael2kmaps for both X and text mode12:00
sicelogood idea12:00
rafael2kuvos, a simple fix would be to do just a keyboard, without the battery and all this madness12:01
rafael2knot a fix, but a simpler project I meant12:01
arno11Hi guys Do you have XV driver working on d4 ?12:39
arno11because it s definitly not working on n90012:39
arno11xvinfo shows no adaptor found12:40
arno11and xorg log shows omap error: could not initialyze xv12:41
arno11using stable img12:43
buZzarno11: yes, xv works on d412:44
buZz'xvinfo | wc -l' > 3712:44
buZzarno11: you may need to move to -devel for it12:44
buZz-maybe- on n900 aswell? not sure12:45
buZzWizzup: last i heard was some error on pcb causing death to keyboard on charging like that, but could be modded to behave normally12:45
buZzbut unable to charge from 50% of ports is a bit sad12:46
arno11buZz: ok so it s not working on stable12:52
buZzcould be, havent tried for ages12:52
buZzits not 'stable' btw12:52
buZzthere's no stable ;)12:52
arno11lol true12:52
uvos__it should work on n900 too12:53
uvos__even on stable12:53
uvos___someting_ is seemingly up with pvr on n900 on stable atm12:54
buZzarno11: have you tried rebooting?12:54
uvos__@Wizzup maybe we should syc stable with devel on beowulf one last time?12:54
uvos__since beowulf devel gets little/no updates now too12:54
buZzsometimes the GPU has some issues on bootup on d4 aswell, need to powercycle before it behaves again12:54
arno11buZz: uvos__: rebooting doesn t work12:56
arno11on stable only sdl driver is working well12:56
buZzaw12:56
arno11on n90012:56
uvos__arno11: not related to this issue (xv should work) but on n900 even with xv video is pretty mutch useless12:56
buZzsdl 'driver' ?12:56
uvos__its to slow to decode sd h26512:56
buZzso is d4 :P12:57
arno11it works using sdl with mplayer12:57
buZzah, sure12:59
buZz-vo x11 works aswell probably ;)12:59
buZzhow about ; mpv -vo gpu bla.video12:59
buZzthat -should- use GLES12:59
uvos__d4 can do it12:59
uvos__bearly12:59
uvos__i also ment h26412:59
uvos__but its true for h265 too on d412:59
buZzh265 takes a LOT more cpu power12:59
uvos__i know13:00
uvos__but d4 can manage13:00
uvos__juuust about13:00
uvos__sd 24 fps13:00
buZzoh SD, as in 640x480 :D13:00
uvos__yeah ofc13:00
uvos__no 4k xD13:00
arno11i tried every possible options with mplayer and mpv13:01
arno11no other vo than sdl works13:01
uvos__i mean x11 not working makes no sense13:02
uvos__gpu should work too13:02
uvos__gpu is even fast13:02
buZzx11 should totally work13:02
uvos__(really close to xv)13:02
buZzif it doesnt, something else is wrong :)13:02
arno11misunderstanding: i mean exept x1113:03
buZz-vo aalib should work too13:03
buZz-vo caca aswell13:03
buZz:)13:03
buZzand -vo png13:03
uvos__poor n90013:03
uvos__now it has to encode them into pngs too13:03
arno11i tried every vo possible13:03
arno11but sdl works great13:04
buZzwell, great is great :D13:04
arno11:)13:04
arno11Wizzup: i will wait to edit n900 tweaks on the wiki13:15
Wizzupok, wait on what exactly?13:16
arno11few things are unclear and i definitly need to test devel img to compare13:16
arno11but latest img refuse to boot13:17
buZzi'm quite sure -vo xv -should- be working on n900 aswell13:17
arno11as Maemish said previously13:17
arno11buZz: xvinfo shows no adaptor13:18
buZzyeah so you said13:18
arno11crossed messages13:19
arno11devel img from 01012023 seems broken13:21
WizzupI'm trying to get with fmg o pick up the elogind work (maybe also with uvos) so that we can all move to chimaera rather than beowulf13:23
Wizzupthat should make this easier, as supporting two distro releases with different sw is complicated13:23
buZzWizzup: ah , the elogind stuff prevents distupgrade to work now?13:25
Wizzupno, it prevents us from saying we're done with it13:34
buZzoh ok13:35
buZzi tried a distupgrade to chimaera but got stuck somewhere around elogind aswell , iirc13:35
uvos__so the main issue i have13:35
uvos__is that elogind dbus interfaces are broken13:36
uvos__if i boot fulll session13:36
uvos__i presume this is beacause the session dbus buses are joined on leste by af-services13:36
uvos__but changeing this hack causes lots of other issues13:37
uvos__as then the way leste uses gconf dosent work anymore13:37
uvos__so not sure what to do about this...13:37
uvos__aslo please13:39
uvos__https://github.com/maemo-leste/osso-applet-display/pull/213:39
uvos__https://github.com/maemo-leste/osso-applet-notificationlight/pull/113:40
uvos__https://github.com/maemo-leste/hildon-desktop/pull/2113:40
uvos__these pull requests solve the issue for mce at least13:40
uvos__since it makes the settings go over the system dbus bus13:40
uvos__instead over the session bus (via gconf)13:40
rafael2kSo is Maemo Chimaera ready for release?16:31
rafael2k: )16:31
rafael2kupdated: https://github.com/maemo-leste/leste-config/pull/3616:51
Wizzuprafael2k: I think we need to work together on tackling the issues uvos describes17:44
Wizzupelogind mandates that things must happen in a certain way17:44
Wizzupso we need to figure out how to abide to the terms it imposes on us17:45
freemangordonuvos__: at least in https://github.com/maemo-leste/osso-applet-display/pull/2 gconf provides way more than mce, like patterns, dim timeout etc, when was that stripped from support?17:45
freemangordonhere https://github.com/maemo-leste/osso-applet-display/commit/4dae593c1d930d36c98d4112a4fd24fee8657f48 perhaps?17:47
uvosfreemangordon: no18:09
uvosfreemangordon: those are different applets18:09
uvosthis applet supported only this and touchscreen vibration18:10
uvosvibration i moved to profile, since its a profile config18:10
uvosoh and "display power saveing"18:11
uvosthats still there18:11
uvosbut commented out18:11
uvossince it uses affects a fremantle kernel interface in mce that dosent work18:12
uvosor exist rather18:12
uvosbtw maemo.org is dead18:42
Wizzupwhich part ofi t?18:44
uvosmaemo.org18:44
Wizzupmain page18:44
uvosyeah18:45
Wizzuptalk.maemo.org seems ok18:45
uvosyeah18:45
uvoswiki too18:45
Wizzupright18:45
uvosi need http://maemo.org/development/documentation/apis/18:45
WizzupI just asked18:46
Wizzupfor someone to look18:46
Wizzupjoerg: ^ ?18:47
Wizzupuvos: I think archive team is also making some backups18:55
joergsorry, I don't know what to do about it18:57
Wizzupok19:01
Wizzupxes: ^ ?19:01
joergmaemo.orgh is "powered by Midgard[1]" - no idea how to keep this up and running a decade after it's EOL, particularly with the custom made maemo extensions it's using19:46
joergit been impossible to upgrade to midgard2 back when migration of maemo to community. I doubt it got easier since then19:47
joerghttp://midgard-project.org/19:50
joerghttp://midgard-project.org/midgard1/19:51
joergI can restart a few services, clean out a few /var/log/*, just to watch the whole thing go down again from DoS attacks, brute force attacks, and spam, within a few days20:00
joerghttps://web.archive.org/web/20220305215108/http://maemo.org/development/20:04
joerguvos: ^^^20:04
joerghttps://i.imgur.com/8iSzE72.jpg20:16
joergfunny enough http://monitor.maemo.org/ganglia/ is up and running while https://monitor.maemo.org/ganglia/ is "Unable to connect"20:33
nmdvjoerg: is that something any of us could take a look and perhaps disable/block any of the mechanisms used to spam/dos/bruteforce attack the site. How about setting a lab environment elsewhere, test a few alternatives and present it back for your consideration. I now this has to be very old code for sure but I am willing to put some effort and money if required to keep the site online22:34
uvoswe also still need it, as you can see22:50
uvosat least the technical documentation needs to be hosted somewhere22:51
joergnmdv: I lack expertise on this. Please contact warfare [Falk]22:58
nmdvcompletely agree on that, for "new" maemo users like myself is incredibly useful to find everything about maemo still on the same site from a decade plus ago, so I would think that one way to achieve this goal is to shield the old website componets from anything that imply new account creating, changes, obviously no new garage.maemo.org projects, etc. get it to a working state and then who knows perhaps upgrade it midgard2 if that was something that was22:58
nmdvthought about by the maemo community folks in the previous years.22:58
nmdvjoerg: thanks I will do that.22:59
