Wizzupuvos: http://dpaste.com/8WQF2CBSJ - this makes the qt web browser rotate to either landscape or portrait depending on the phone00:06
Wizzup's orientation00:06
siceloand ... it works :-)00:07
siceloty Wizzup, freemangordon00:09
Wizzupsicelo: yes!00:10
Wizzupsicelo: if you're up for it, we should patch that in droid4-linux asap00:10
WizzupI can try to do that tomorrow00:10
siceloyou mean make an MR?00:11
sicelohttps://paste.debian.net/1266458/ that's what i have00:13
Wizzupsicelo: yeah but I can use this patch too and fix it00:13
sicelolet me update my repos00:16
sicelowhat branch to make PR against?00:16
Wizzupsicelo: hm, let me check00:19
WizzupI think maemo-6.100:20
sicelocool00:20
Wizzupwe could add it to debian/patches/ so we might not have to re-tag, but we can also re-tag00:20
Wizzup(then I would put it in maemo/chimaera)00:21
Wizzupsicelo: thanks for figuring this out btw00:21
WizzupI totally forgot that I ever wrote those emails00:21
sicelomaybe instead of MR, just use this diff, at least you'll know better which route to take (tag/no tag)  - i guess it's clean enough: https://paste.debian.net/1266460/00:23
Wizzupyep, I will, ty00:26
rafael2kmodest ❤00:53
Wizzupyeah, needs portrait support though :D01:27
rafael2klandscape is already veeery enough01:30
uvosWizzup: its ui dosnt work in protrait01:31
uvosthats why it dosent enable the flag (it also forces aspect ratio in wm hints)01:31
Wizzupuvos: it works fine for me02:39
Wizzupuvos: what doesn't work for you?02:39
Wizzupuvos: vkb and everything02:40
Wizzupuvos: maybe a chimaera thing?02:43
Wizzupuvos: in any case on chimaera there is now gl accelerated qtwebengine02:53
dsc_hello frens07:15
dsc_cpuinfo/stable 0.0~git20200612.63b2545-2 armhf CPU INFOrmation library (binary utilities)07:15
dsc_libcpuinfo-dev/stable 0.0~git20200612.63b2545-2 armhf CPU INFOrmation library (header file)07:15
dsc_i need this package but updated to a more recent git revision07:15
dsc_nvm, I dont actually need that07:23
freemangordonWizzup: yes, it makes lots of difference (qtwebbrowser)09:29
freemangordonunfortunately it lacks fullscreen support09:30
freemangordonand plugins09:30
freemangordonotherwise it would have been our browser of choice09:31
freemangordonWizzup: "in any case on chimaera there is now gl accelerated qtwebengine": not really ;)09:32
freemangordonI have to push platform plugin first09:32
freemangordonoh, wait09:32
freemangordonit is there already?09:32
freemangordonright, it is there09:33
freemangordonWizzup: for some reason dpaste has blocked my IP09:50
freemangordonI wonder how's that possible given that I *never* used it and my IP is static :)09:50
dsc_i bought a new microsd cable but it didnt fix my Limbo droid409:58
dsc_micro usb cable*09:58
dsc_> attach cable > droid4 starts automatically -> kexecboot 0.6 -> start maemo -> black screen (power went out here, I think)09:59
dsc_seems to never charge (at least, there is no light indication)10:00
dsc_i cant be the only one with these issues :D10:01
dsc_this is a normal cable btw, none of these "fast charging" ones10:02
freemangordondsc_: latest kernel broke it10:08
freemangordonyou have to re-connect the cable while booting until the green led bocomes lit10:08
freemangordon*becomes10:08
dsc_ok ill try ^^10:09
freemangordonuvos: do you plan to do anything ^^^10:09
freemangordonor you wait me to implement the cable detection?10:09
dsc_re-connecting the cable is not possible as it immediately shuts down10:10
freemangordontry to boot android10:11
freemangordonmaybe the battery is too discharged10:11
dsc_yeah that also yields into a black screen and it turning off10:13
dsc_so I cannot seem to charge and the battery is 100% dead :D10:13
dsc_but its ok - was just wondering if this was known behavior10:16
dsc_everyone here seems to use a droid4 but *both* my devices are bricked, very sad :D10:16
freemangordondsc_: buy a *new* battery for lg whatever-it-was10:22
freemangordonthis https://www.ebay.com/itm/334581894280?hash=item4de6a28c88:g:DskAAOSwz65jO7SQ10:23
freemangordonand a soldering iron, in case you don;t have one :)10:23
dsc_> no longer available10:24
dsc_:D10:24
freemangordondsc_: no, that was only the model for reference10:24
dsc_and the model name is10:24
freemangordonit is available, either from polarcell or else10:25
dsc_BL-T5?10:25
freemangordonmhm10:25
dsc_https://www.amazon.com/Replacement-Battery-F-180S-Optimus-EAC61898601/dp/B09637ML6S10:25
dsc_freemangordon: so, after purchasing, does one need to do 'somethings' with a soldering iron?10:26
dsc_like, soldering, for instance10:27
dsc_or does this battery 'just fit' :D10:27
dsc_I think Wizzup is playing cruel pranks on me and gave me bricked droid4's10:28
dsc_either that, or this maemo-leste is incredibly difficult to run for normal users10:28
dsc_also please confirm the model name10:30
dsc_this ebay link is near useless :P10:31
freemangordondsc_: laters, have to run now10:32
dsc_kk10:32
sicelodsc_: the battery situation is probably the main reason i still prefer n900. anyway, in absence of better battery and fancy cable, try charging from a power bank. they tend to have D+/- shorted, and d4 does respond well to thY11:56
siceloif booting the recovery or android doesn't work, in kexecboot, choose shutdown and leave it on the powerbank for some time11:58
sicelootherwise yes, seems you'll only have peace once you replace the battery with a *quality* unit11:59
siceloi don't have access to those, so I've made peace with the fact that I'll have not-so-stellar performance. meanwhile n900 works fine with a run down battery :p12:00
dsc_sicelo: powerbank would be via micro-usb still, right?12:02
dsc_> in kexecboot, choose shutdown <== ok, trying this now12:04
sicelodsc_: yes still microusb. the difference is that the data pins are almost always shorted in powerbanks, while chargers may have all sorts of fancy stuff there12:14
dsc_ic12:14
siceloat least d4 performs worse on my 2A genuine Samsung fast charger compared to el-cheapo no-name power bank12:15
dsc_however, I do also have a n900 laying around12:15
sicelostill have the original nokia n900 charger? that should be able to revive your d4. has data pins shorted12:16
dsc_i do not12:17
sicelobuzz found d4 charges best on cable where there's no connection at all on data pins, so if you have that  even better.12:18
dsc_guess ill test my software on the n90012:19
dsc_the reason why I'm interested in the droid4 is because its a bit faster :P12:21
dsc_which helps with compiling etc.12:21
dsc_but yeah anyway12:21
Wizzupfreemangordon: just woke up, yeah, qtwebbrowser is faster, and with my pathc it also does portrait properly12:22
Wizzupfreemangordon: I can push that somewhere12:22
Wizzupdsc_: there's more d4's at initlab12:22
sicelodsc_: yes, and calls work nicely on the d4. i moved my work sim to it  and it's been good.12:24
Wizzupdsc_: BlagovestPetrov4 messed me saying he's making some cable to 'unbrick' them if they have low battery12:24
dsc_oh nice12:24
dsc_Wizzup: in your box?12:24
Wizzupdsc_: I think so, or around there12:25
WizzupI might also be able to use this cable for the d2's if I make one12:26
BlagovestPetrov4I'll try to build one in the hackerspace tomorrow :)12:27
dsc_how does this unbrick method work?12:28
siceloBlagovestPetrov4: how is such cable made/wired?12:28
Wizzupfreemangordon: fwiw we'll clearly have to patch qtwebbrowser some more to make it even a little 'maemo' ish, but I'll share the orientation code in a branch12:29
BlagovestPetrov4https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XwwI_6doBWk12:30
Wizzupfreemangordon: https://github.com/maemo-leste-extras/qtwebbrowser/commit/4704f8f793044cdf920a408cae4397fa8b0f2415 this should be it12:30
sicelothanks for sharing. does it charge in that mode  or just gets you into fastboot?12:39
Wizzupsicelo: building droid4-linux/omap-linux now for beowulf-devel13:06
Wizzup(for n900 fix)13:06
sicelolovely, ty13:08
Wizzupwill then build for chimaera as well13:08
Wizzupuvos: I merged the portrait fix to the maemo/chimaera branch, which is 5.11, we might also want to update the actual browser to 5.15 I guess13:11
SuperMarioSFOh hi13:13
SuperMarioSFWizzup, the package were sent to a proxy service for international shipping. The actual carrier should be UPS.13:14
SuperMarioSFthe tracking number will available tomorrow. Will sent via email.13:14
SuperMarioSFEstimated arrival time should within 5~7 days.13:15
SuperMarioSFNo battery were included due to shipping policy on air shipping.13:15
Wizzuphi, back in just a minute13:16
SuperMarioSFoh, just some notification for XT883 international shipping progress, nothing urgent.13:16
SuperMarioSFShipping via official service for shipping company is way diffcult than finding a proxy service...13:18
freemangordonWizzup: what is '1' in view.setProperty("X-Maemo-Orientation", 1); ? automatic?13:18
WizzupSuperMarioSF: great, ty, do you have some number for me?13:19
Wizzupfreemangordon: yes13:19
Wizzupfreemangordon: we still need to make some constants in our qt headers for these, both the strings and the constants13:19
SuperMarioSFcurrent tracking number is not available yet. Will available tomorrow.13:19
Wizzupcheck13:20
SuperMarioSFThe proxy service need to ship from Shenzhen to Hong Kong, and start shipping with UPS then. So the tracking number for UPS will came later.13:20
freemangordonWizzup: I think we can do better ;)13:20
Wizzupfreemangordon: better than just rotation?13:20
SuperMarioSFOnce tracking number is available I will sent a Email for you.13:21
WizzupSuperMarioSF: ty13:21
SuperMarioSFOfficial service often ask for something such as invoice or some business aggreement with the shipping content, which is basically impossible to get for such old phones...13:21
Wizzupfreemangordon: sure, but we should first move to qt web browser 5.15, we are on 5.11 now, and then the whole options/menus might need to be maemo-ified13:21
freemangordonlike view.setProperty("X-Maemo-Orientation", "LandscapeOrientation");13:21
Wizzupfreemangordon: oh, I suppose we can do that too13:21
freemangordon#define WA_Maemo5LandscapeOrientation "LandscapeOrientation" in our maemo headers13:21
freemangordonthat way we will have define for native applications a a meaningful string otherwise13:22
WizzupI'm also still wondering if we should have a way to force portrait, many things that ought to support portrait still don't, for example the address book app13:22
Wizzupbut that's for another day I think13:22
SuperMarioSFbtw, now I have some consist provider for international shipping. If you guys find something interesting and need to get from China, maybe I can help.13:22
Wizzupthe good news is that we have qt web engine with gl support :)13:23
WizzupSuperMarioSF: that sounds great, I'd love that, I'm not sure if we're good at -searching- within chima13:23
SuperMarioSFand those proxy shipping service are cheaper than those official shipping service, which is weird...13:23
SuperMarioSFIf you have some clue about something should been existed there, you can just ask me to find related information.13:24
WizzupI think in general if we can find droid 4 for example it might be useful13:25
SuperMarioSFLast time I checked there isn't much droid 4 in good shape available. usually came with phone only with some really old battery.13:25
SuperMarioSFand shipping with battery is out of question. I have to remove battery before shipping, so the next big problem for you is finding more battery.13:26
SuperMarioSFOr...13:26
SuperMarioSFYou can just bulk order a bunch of Droid 4 batteries and use old fashioned way shipping to your location, which is slow.13:27
Wizzupwell, we don't necessarily care about the battery or the battery state I guess13:27
Wizzupespecially if they're not in a good state to begin with13:27
SuperMarioSFOK13:28
SuperMarioSFIs there any modern battery replacement solution for droid 4?13:28
SuperMarioSFusing a battery a decade old won't help much.13:29
WizzupI think there are some, but I don't recall the details13:29
SuperMarioSFok13:30
Wizzup10:22 < freemangordon> dsc_: buy a *new* battery for lg whatever-it-was13:30
Wizzup10:23 < freemangordon> this https://www.ebay.com/itm/334581894280?hash=item4de6a28c88:g:DskAAOSwz65jO7SQ13:30
Wizzup10:23 < freemangordon> and a soldering iron, in case you don;t have one :)13:30
SuperMarioSFWell I searched BL-T5 battery replacement on taobao, price ranges from CNY20~50.13:32
SuperMarioSF and I guess if I go to Huaqiang North St., Shenzhen, there should be some new old stock service parts.13:34
SuperMarioSFThe only problem is, there are too many seller there and I have no idea who should I go with.13:35
WizzupI think the polarcell ones on ebay are pretty good13:35
SuperMarioSFNo polarcell were found in taobao, maybe this was manufactured in somewhere else.13:37
dsc_Wizzup: you mean the "this item is no longer available" polarcell ones? :P13:37
Wizzuphttps://www.ebay.com/itm/33467464889713:37
WizzupSuperMarioSF: yeah they are german afaik13:38
SuperMarioSFnope. PolarCell in general, seems doesn't exist in China.13:38
SuperMarioSFok13:38
WizzupSuperMarioSF: what I meant to say is that I think it might not make sense to search on the internal market for batteries as much, since we have trouble shipping them anyway, but certain devices without battery could be interesting13:38
SuperMarioSFbut there are way too many service parts of BL-5T batteries.13:38
SuperMarioSFok13:39
SuperMarioSFI guess anyone want a droid 4 should find a replacement battery locally.13:39
Wizzupright13:40
bencohunfortunately there is no EB41 polarcell battery, but fmg and others reported using another polarcell battery model and replaced the connector/electronics13:46
bencohoh and ... is BL-T5 compatible with droid4 as well?13:47
SuperMarioSFbtw, considering COVID-19 situation in China, I recommend you to do a full disinfection on devilered package once you received the package.13:47
SuperMarioSFI have done some basic disinfection inside, but there are other people involved shipping that package so just be safe.13:48
SuperMarioSFI personally recovered from BF.7 at least 3 weeks ago so I'm fine.13:48
freemangordonbencoh: yes, if you replace the electronics :p13:49
bencohoh13:49
WizzupSuperMarioSF: alright, thanks13:50
bencohfreemangordon: is it easy btw? what needs to be done there?13:51
freemangordonSuperMarioSF: well, I have a booster(3 doses) and was sick for 2 days 2 months or so ago. I doubt I'll get covid that easy13:52
freemangordonbencoh: yes, it is13:52
freemangordononce you have the battery you'll see what needs to be done easily13:52
bencohhmm13:52
bencohI dunno, I had a look at pictures but ...13:52
freemangordonbut, in short - remove the original BMS from BL-5T (sticky tape to remove), keeping the flat wires as ling as you can13:53
freemangordon*long13:53
bencohSuperMarioSF: https://www.polarcell.de/en/mobile-phone-batteries/lg/others-polarcell-li-polymer-replacement-battery-for-lg-google-nexus-4-e960.html13:53
freemangordoncarefully remove the stock electronics board from d4 battery. Unfortunately, this one is tricky as it is glued with some black polymer glue, but not impossible13:54
freemangordonsolder the wires from the cell to electronics13:55
freemangordonI put some hot silicone and sticky tape to make it more robust13:55
freemangordonthat's it13:55
freemangordonalso, you may have no voltage out of the battery initially13:56
freemangordonthis will be fixed once you connect a charger to the device13:56
freemangordonbencoh: ^^^13:56
bencohthx13:56
freemangordonit is really easy13:56
freemangordonalso, bl-5t is slightly smaller, so it is not that critical how you solder it13:57
bencohoh13:57
freemangordonsmaller == shorter (1-2mm) and less wide (1-2mm)13:57
Wizzupfreemangordon: how much capacity do you get, reportedly?13:58
bencohI wonder if I kept my old swollen d4 battery13:58
freemangordonI succeed from the first try, given how rusted my soldering skills are13:58
freemangordonWizzup: ~1600 @ 4.213:58
freemangordon*succeeded13:59
bencohhmm, polarcell say 2250 (?)13:59
freemangordonyes, but that is @ 4.3513:59
bencohah13:59
bencohso its not fully charged basically13:59
Wizzupfreemangordon: right, maybe we need to go higher than 4.2 at some point too13:59
freemangordonI think buZz charges to 4.35, so he can may tell what is the real capacity13:59
freemangordonIIRC he said something about 220014:00
freemangordonWizzup: right14:00
bencohneat14:00
Wizzuptmlind: uvos: do you have allow-mbmloader-flashing-mbm.bin for mz607?14:01
* Wizzup tries to download/find images14:01
* Wizzup looks at RETAIL_MZ607_1.6.0_278_1FF.xml.zip14:03
Wizzupfreemangordon: oh it may need to be .2 for qtwebbrowser :)14:05
Wizzup,2 I mean14:05
Wizzupnot ,114:05
Wizzupyep should be 214:08
Wizzupsicelo: it's in repo now for beowulf-devel14:12
WizzupI'll test later today14:12
sicelowill try it, but i think i broke something else on my installation, and don't have time to look into it soon14:22
siceloso, recently, besides the ts being unresponsive, occasionally it will start acting as if it's being pressed on another part of the screen. hardware issue on my end, or others have observed it perhaps? (droid4)14:33
siceloif i lock screen double tap on power, then it fixes itself, so i doubt it's h/w, but i could be wrong14:35
Wizzupsicelo: ok, I'll check in 1hr14:47
freemangordonWizzup: lets fix both, ok? qtwebbrowser is the first user of "X-Maemo-Orientation", right?14:48
freemangordonso we may add QMaemo or QMaemo5 namespace (if we don;t have one already) and then add defines, like:14:51
freemangordon#define Orientation  "X-Maemo-Orientation"14:51
freemangordon#define Landscape "Landscape"14:52
freemangordonetc14:52
freemangordonbesides that we can have an enum, to be used by native maemo apps14:56
freemangordonand because setAttribute takes QVariant, we can easily check for either variant14:57
norayrfreemangordon: i tried to fix old rotation code in 'easylist', but it didn't work.14:57
siceloWizzup: where in maedevu does the kernel package end up? https://maedevu.maemo.org/leste/pool/main/l/linux/ doesn't have it14:57
freemangordon(QString or int)14:57
siceloi want to try unpacking it to the SD card, and hope it'll work14:58
sicelomaybe i should fetch it from jenkins in meantime14:58
freemangordonnorayr: how;s that related?14:58
norayrrelated? i was answering, if that's the first program that uses new way of maemo rotation, and i said - no, probably not. i also used that code in easylist but i did something wrong probably and it doesn't work.15:00
freemangordonah, ok15:01
Wizzupsicelo: use pkgweb :)15:09
Wizzupsicelo: probably omap-linux so o15:10
Wizzupfreemangordon: no, qtwebbrowser is far from the first user of it15:10
siceloah, i forgot about pkgweb. anyway already downloading from jenkins15:11
Wizzupsicelo: aight15:45
sicelommm, so n900 is broken in many ways in Leste. no udc, so usbnet and charger auto-detect doesn't work. wifi not working either. i'll see if i can spend some time during the coming week to work on it properly15:54
Wizzupsicelo: this is 6.1 ?15:54
siceloyes15:54
Wizzupthat's more broken than I remember15:55
Wizzupok15:55
Wizzupthat's a shame15:55
Wizzupthis really should have been tested before it went to -devel15:55
Wizzupwell, with chimaera we will have different branches at least15:55
Wizzupsicelo: I'll still build the modem fix now for chimaera as well15:57
Wizzupso that we at least don't have a resetting device15:57
Wizzupsicelo: wifi works for me?15:58
WizzupI can't test charging right now since it's on lab psu15:59
Wizzuptesting modem fix when the upgrade completes ;)16:00
sicelocharger auto-detection is definitely broken,  udisksctl unmount -b /dev/mmcblk0p216:00
sicelohttps://github.com/maemo-leste/bugtracker/issues/681#issuecomment-134183513116:00
Wizzupwhat is this auto detection?16:00
sicelomaybe the wifi issue is specific to me16:00
Wizzuphmm16:01
Wizzupmaybe freemangordon's charger work will matter here too somehow16:01
sicelono :-)16:01
Wizzupalso when tmlind gets back, maybe we just move to 6.216:01
siceloit's always been working16:01
Wizzup(in case it works there)16:01
Wizzupsicelo: hmm16:01
siceloit broke because of the UDC issues that tmlind already fixed. not sure how those fixes are merged in Leste's tree, but they seemingly don't work. they work fine in the kernel i maintain for pmOS, both in 6.1 and 6.216:02
sicelobut yeah, i'll spend some time this week on the Leste kernel to see what's up. Tuesday is a holiday here, so i hope to have a bit of time to spare16:02
Wizzup:)16:04
Wizzupit might be that we just miss some patch16:04
sicelomodem still causes oops for me ... but let me assume that my manual unpack method is flawed. let's see what will happen from your end16:06
Wizzupsicelo: testing now16:06
sicelomaybe time for a new image for me :-) ... which is a pity. this is image from Leste day 1. only been apt upgrading until now16:07
siceloWizzup: simple way to check the charger thing, even while you're on psu, is `cat /sys/class/udc` ... if it's empty, then you have the problem (and i am quite sure you do)16:09
Wizzupwill check after reboot, sounds likely16:10
Wizzupsicelo: heh, you can just reinstall omap-linux16:10
sicelothe thing is - now i have no connectivity inside leste ;-)16:11
sicelono usbnet, no wifi, and no gprs ... anyway i'm doing a new unpack ... maybe i took wrong kernel version16:12
Wizzupsicelo: I don't get reboots on the kernel from repo16:19
sicelogreat. so the modem is fixed :-)16:19
WizzupI do get this:16:19
Wizzup# mdbus2 -s org.ofono /n900_2 org.ofono.Modem.SetProperty Powered true16:19
Wizzup[ERR]: GDBus.Error:org.ofono.Error.InProgress: Operation already in progress16:19
Wizzupbut I need to add a sim16:19
sicelooh, well powering on has always worked. it's onlining that had issues16:20
sicelobut i am quite sure that problem should be fixed16:20
Wizzupadded a sim now16:23
Wizzuplet's see16:23
sicelowould you be able to tar /boot and send me a copy? i've copied everything, but i think /boot is the one i need to massage16:24
Wizzupsicelo: hm, modem is not online yet, it might still be trying to get online16:27
Wizzupsicelo: maybe try to get the .deb from the repo and dpkg -i it16:27
Wizzuphttps://maedevu.maemo.org/pkgweb/beowulf-devel/main/binary-armhf/linux-image-omap.html16:28
Wizzuphttps://maedevu.maemo.org/leste/pool/main/o/omap-linux/linux-image-omap_6.1.0.8-1+2m7_armhf.deb16:28
Wizzupsicelo: yeah there is no /sys/class/udc btw16:29
Wizzupsicelo: modem is still trying to get online, maybe I need to wait some minutes, since it's probably a different country for it16:29
sicelommm, at least it isn't causing oops16:30
Wizzupdid you test if your fix also made it fully work?16:30
Wizzupit might be that there's some other init still taking the dma path16:30
WizzupI'll give it some time16:31
siceloyes, it worked fine. registered to network, gprs, and also ussd. sms didn't work, but pmOS' ofono has its own issues (i suspect musl)16:34
Wizzupsicelo: notably my change was -slightly- different from yours16:34
Wizzupmaybe that was a mistake16:34
Wizzuphttps://github.com/maemo-leste/droid4-linux/commit/0fe807cd4e36243930c152f3f3c95d1c339024ad16:34
sicelolooks ok. i saw it16:34
WizzupI skipped lch = ssi_claim_lch(msg) I think16:35
Wizzupbut it seemed dma related to me16:35
Wizzupbtw, syncthing works well on leste, but don't keep it running all the time :)16:35
siceloanything in dmesg?16:36
Wizzupsicelo: no errors16:37
WizzupI'm going to give it some more time still16:38
Wizzupit's also possible this image is also not ideal16:38
sicelook. i think it's a bit weird. but yeah, i don't have a way to test roaming16:38
sicelomy modem is registered to network now16:43
sicelogprs working16:46
sicelointerestingly my wifi still doesn't work16:46
siceloincoming and outgoing calls work (of course without voice) :p16:49
siceloWizzup: so i think you can now undo the module blacklist ... not sure which package that was added in16:51
siceloand sms works, yay (i really wonder why they don't work in pmOS ... hence i suspect musl)16:52
Wizzupsicelo: right @ blacklist17:16
Wizzupsicelo: hm, mine is still not online17:16
Wizzupsicelo: so modem registered to network with pkgweb kernel?17:17
siceloyes, (manually unpacked)17:17
siceloyour wifi still working?17:18
Wizzupyes17:18
Wizzupmaybe you have firmware troubles?17:18
sicelomaybe17:20
sicelommm, wpasupplicant isn't running, and dpkg -L wpasupplicant shows systemd service scripts. shouldn't it contain openrc ones?17:48
Wizzupwhat version is it?17:48
sicelo2.9.0.-21+2m7.117:49
siceloi guess it's ours17:49
Wizzuphm, I forgot I'm already on chimaera17:50
Wizzupit looks like the right one17:50
Wizzup(my n900 is not on chimaera btw)17:50
siceloi'm surprised it's forked. what did we need that's not in upstream?17:50
Wizzuplibwpaicd17:50
Wizzuperr17:50
Wizzuplibwpa-client-dev17:51
bencoh-dev is needed on the device?17:51
siceloWizzup: how do we start wpasupplicant, i.e. arguments? i want to start it manually and see where it takes me17:52
Wizzupit's needed by libicd wpa supplicant17:52
Wizzupin any case we don't have it forked anymore on chimeara17:52
Wizzupsicelo: sec17:52
Wizzupiirc also dbus wasn't enabled on beowulf, something silly like that17:52
Wizzup /sbin/wpa_supplicant -s -P /run/wpa_supplicant.wlan0.pid -i wlan0 -u -D nl80211,wext -c /etc/wpa_supplicant/wpa_supplicant.conf17:53
Wizzupsicelo: ^17:53
sicelommm, that's long :p17:53
Wizzupand firmware-ti-connectivity 20190114-217:53
Wizzupmaybe try ifconfig wlan0 up first17:53
Wizzupsee if that works at all17:53
siceloat least wpa_cli sees the networks now17:59
Wizzupdid anything change?17:59
Wizzupmaybe try 'service icd2 restart' just in case17:59
siceloi just ran that command manually18:00
Wizzupright18:00
siceloso now i need to restart whatever talks to it, libicd2-wpa?18:00
Wizzupjust icd2, yes18:00
Wizzupbut iiuc wpa_supplicant would normally be dbus activated on our images18:00
Wizzupwhen means that when icd2 requests it, it gets started18:00
Wizzupat least iirc18:01
sicelomm still not showing up in the connection dialog18:02
Wizzupsorry, it's really hard to know exactly what's up, you could try to reinstall/reconfig some of the pkgs related to this18:02
sicelolet me just connect manually with wpa_cli for now, so i can do a proper update18:02
Wizzupis the device fully up to date?18:02
Wizzupok18:02
siceloWizzup: so your sim ... is it working on droid 4? the sim which isn't happy on your n90018:09
sicelooh, maybe you can test if it works in fremantle18:09
Wizzupit was working on the pp18:11
Wizzupyeah I'll try fremantle18:11
Wizzupsicelo: will need to find another n900, this one doesn't have fremantle it seems :)18:15
Wizzuplet's just assume that it works given that it works for you18:15
Wizzupmaybe it's the .pm param or something18:16
sicelo.pm means?18:17
sicelomy rc-update output ... looks correct? no important missing items here? https://paste.debian.net/1266518/18:20
siceloi seem to think there should be a wpa_supplicant service18:30
Wizzupsicelo: no18:35
Wizzupthis is dbus activated18:35
Wizzuppretty sure18:35
Wizzupuvos: so the problem with plugging on chimaera is that pulse reads/understands the hp port different18:35
siceloplease compare with yours ... oh, i can compare with droid 418:35
Wizzupuvos: on beowulf, the ports are either:18:35
Wizzup[Out] Headphones: Headset (priority: 100, available)18:36
Wizzupand18:36
Wizzup[Out] Headphones: Headset (priority: 100, not available)18:36
Wizzupon chimaera, it is:18:36
Wizzup[Out] Headphones: Headset (type: Headphones, priority: 100, availability unknown)18:36
Wizzupso probably changes here could affect this: https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/pulseaudio/pulseaudio/-/commits/master/src/modules/module-switch-on-port-available.c18:36
Wizzupso we might need https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/pulseaudio/pulseaudio/-/commit/323195e305ce3bd0f183fc66a301b8ad6120e17f18:37
Wizzuphttps://gitlab.freedesktop.org/pulseaudio/pulseaudio/-/issues/102818:37
siceloto upgrade to chimaera on vm, it's sufficient to edit sources list and dist-upgrade?18:43
Wizzupuvos: fixed :)19:11
Wizzupsicelo: it's a bit more complicated, I would not advise it yet..19:11
Wizzupsicelo: but yes, essentially19:12
siceloi only want it in vm, so i can build the extras packages i maintain19:12
freemangordonsicelo: better get a new Vm image19:13
Wizzupsicelo: right, we have a vm image19:17
Wizzupsicelo: but you can also try dist-upgrade :)19:17
Wizzup\o/ so hp detection works again in chimaera19:17
siceloi hardly use the existing vm ..  so borking it is not train smash :-)19:17
Wizzupgo for it :)19:18
siceloTuesday though :-)19:21
sicelohave some reports to write today. even the modem stuff i shouldn't have done ... but, n900 is n90019:22
Wizzup:)19:25
WizzupI've been slacking with my real work a bit19:25
Wizzupjust working on maemo things mostly19:26
Wizzupmeanwhile I found allow mbmloader flashing for mz60919:26
Wizzupuvos: did you send private messages to the folks in this thread? https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/fastboot-files-for-the-droid-xyboard-10-1-mz617.3181916/19:42
Wizzupuvos: I wonder if we can have a tablet do an OTA update and figure out where it gets the files from19:44
_uvos_i wrote several people there20:11
_uvos_no one was able to help20:11
_uvos_i found the ip / http req for xt875 on xda somewhere20:14
_uvos_the server was long gone20:14
_uvos_so i suspect its the same for mz6xx20:14
_uvos_you dont have to have a device to try and do an update20:15
_uvos_should be able to find it in android20:15
_uvos_they use the same old foss android update system after all20:15
Wizzup_uvos_: I also wrote to three, let's see21:14
siceloI'll post this on gh later (hope i don't forget)..22:04
sicelohildon-home has a bug regarding rearranging the  order of applications in the list. when in edit  mode, the applications are listed in 3 columns, but in normal mode, they're 5 or more22:05
siceloso positioning doesn't really work, as application shows up where you didn't place  it22:06
Wizzupsicelo: please do22:23
Wizzupif we aim for chimaera images on feb 1st, it can be our 5 year anniversary release23:38
