Wizzupfreemangordon: did people reply, I didn't see it01:09
WizzupI guess they didn't reply to the ml list?01:09
sicelothe ML has always had some strange slowness actually. the reply can be seen here: https://lore.kernel.org/linux-iio/CAMknhBE5A3w7ntdWC9cFDYSrPQNPoH7sQ5PVXKEy6MAJmZ93SA@mail.gmail.com/T/#t04:50
siceloi hope the question wasn't worded in a way to favor one option over the other :-/04:51
uvos__sicelo: i dont think its worded biased, i mean i would have made the argument that haveing one interface to proximitry sensors is a good thing, regardless of if it fits absolutly compleatly09:41
uvos__i really disagree that this split is sane, but ok09:41
uvos__maybe a reply explaining why we want to do this would be in order (ie we have some devices that definatly need to be on iio since they have >1b and would like to avoid having multiple interfaces to the same thing)09:47
ac_laptopHello people10:39
ac_laptopn900 went out of battery yesterday, I let it plugged all night, this morning: I boot it twice under lest, it shut down immediately, third time it didn't boot at all. I plugged it for a few minutes, could boot under leste : it says the battery is near 0%. I reboot it under fremantle: the battery indicates 60% or so10:41
ac_laptopI'm letting it charge now, I'll reboot it under leste when fremantle indicates 100%10:42
siceloWe need to see the uevent. Not much we can say until then10:43
ac_laptopsicelo: I will upload the uevent log file when I reboot under leste10:46
siceloSo far it sounds like a worn out battery10:48
siceloYes Fremantle will behave better. Since it draws as little as 4mA most of the time, compared with 50mA on Leste10:49
ac_laptopsicelo: this is a replacement battery I just bought, in case those problems were due to the original one.10:50
ac_laptopsicelo:better power management explains the slower battery consumption on fremantle. It doesn't explains why leste suddently believes the battery is at 0% when it clearly isn't.10:51
siceloUnfortunately because these are old devices, "new" batteries tend to be just as bad (n900 or any other device)10:52
siceloac_laptop: a worn battery has higher resistance, then voltage drops in exactly the way you describe10:53
ac_laptopsicelo: I let the device run for a day and a half on fremantle without any trouble10:53
ac_laptopsicelo: why would it drop suddently only under leste ? is it because of the higher consumption of leste ?10:54
siceloYes, possibly10:55
ac_laptopI guess I'll buy a third battery then10:55
siceloMaybe wait until you have the output we requested... the voltage will be visible there10:56
uvos__if you do buy a battery11:08
uvos__buy modern repoduction, not a original11:08
Wizzuppolarcell has good ones11:18
ac_laptopyes, if you have any recommendations in brand I'll take them, because when I search for 'BL-5J' I get pretty much everything11:22
ac_laptopthis ? https://www.polarcell.de/en/mobile-phone-batteries/nokia/5000-series-polarcell-li-ion-replacement-battery-for-nokia-5800-xpressmusic-navigator.html 1600 mAh is a lot11:55
uvos__yeah12:11
uvos__polarcell numbers are fairly grounded in reality12:11
Wizzupfreemangordon: cool @ omp, ready for testing? :)18:38
freemangordonshould be18:45
freemangordonwell, qml part still does not work18:45
freemangordonalso, someday I plan to implement transparent controls background, in video window18:46
freemangordonbut besides that I am not aware of any issues18:46
freemangordonhave to check the one that you reported though18:46
freemangordon(unknown album or whatever it was)18:47
freemangordonmaybe we shall not display albums with 0 items in then, dunno18:47
WizzupI think they do have items18:56
Wizzupit's just that the query doesn't work18:57
freemangordonhmm18:58
freemangordondo you know which query is that18:58
freemangordonlike, could you stop mafw-tracker-source (/usr/bin/mafw.sh stop mafw-tracker-source) and then G_MESSAGES_DEBUG=all MAFW_LOG=all /usr/bin/mafw-dbus-wrapper mafw-tracker-source18:59
freemangordonyou should get all the queries printed19:00
Wizzupyes, in a bit :)19:00
Wizzupupgrading first, and also getting a coffee first19:00
Wizzupbut soon :)19:00
freemangordonok19:00
freemangordonno hurry19:00
Wizzupuvos__: btw I finally got these set up https://wiki.dfrobot.com/Power_Module__SKU_DFR0205_ and will use them for a lab droid4 setup, hopefully with microsd extender cable and the pcb to switch microsd from the actual slot to usb19:00
freemangordonBTW, most if not all bugs I fixed in omp are fremantle legacy :)19:01
Wizzupheh19:01
Wizzupsome details on it would be cool, I'd include that in our news post19:01
freemangordonsee changelog19:01

Wizzupit doesn't yet on my d419:02
freemangordonhmm?19:02
Wizzupwell, I went to videos, clicked play, and it plays at n900 res19:03
Wizzuplike some parts of the screen are unused19:03
Wizzupbtw we should maybe update the about of OMP to include ourselves19:03
Wizzupor you mostly I guess19:03
freemangordondid you select "fit ti screen"?19:04
Wizzupfit only makes it like 10px larger19:04
freemangordonweird19:04
freemangordonwhat video is that?19:04

Wizzupwill do now19:34
WizzupI was also considering rsyncing my ~400GB music collection to the sd card of the d419:34
Wizzupbut I don't think I want to stress OMP that much yet :D19:34
freemangordon:)19:34
freemangordonseems mafw-gst-renderer crashes sometimes19:35

freemangordonok, I can repro here, but with albums19:48
freemangordonI have 'unknown album' with 5 songs, but when I click, it has only one song19:49
Wizzupright19:49
freemangordonok, will se what happen19:49
freemangordons19:49
Wizzupmeanwhile my dc-dc converter is working and I can power my lab droid(s) without lab psu19:49
Wizzupfreemangordon: btw the video scaling works now19:54
Wizzupit's slow, but it works19:54
Wizzup(the video res is the same as the d4 screen)19:54
freemangordonI wonder why it is so slow19:58
freemangordonbut well19:58
bencohmaybe gst rescales in software20:06
freemangordonno20:06
freemangordonthis is glimagesink20:07
ac_laptopsicelo: the output that you requested: https://www.rhizogen.es.eu.org/~ac/bugs/maemo/battery.txt20:09
bencoh"Depends on the driver, OpenGL handles hardware accelerated scaling of video frames." from glimagesink. does this imply it might not be supported?20:09
Wizzupfreemangordon: oh could it be not gles but gl20:10
ac_laptopand the rest: https://paste.debian.net/1298730/20:10
ac_laptopThere doesn't seem to be anything from the reboots of this morning that were followed by an immediate shutdown, I guess upower didn't even have the time to log anything20:13
sicelothese are not logged by upower20:24
siceloso, looks like you had a shutdown somewhere around Mon Nov 20 00:51:01 CET 202320:25
sicelothat was low voltage, and absolutely expected20:26
siceloat least the few logs leading to that shutdown look ok to me.20:27
ac_laptopso that seems to support the hypothesis that both of my batteries are faulty ?20:27
sicelonot necessarily. maybe just give the whole thing time to calibrate to the true capacity20:28
ac_laptopsicelo: I can't get it to calibrate when it refuses to boot20:29
siceloat the last log, the fuel gauge thought your battery is good for 1400mAh. more calibration cycles will bring it closer to the true capacity20:29
siceloit calibrates even from fremantle ... it's just fremantle doesn't really use the fuel gauge data :-)20:29
siceloat least vanilla fremantle doesnt. with cssu + power kernel, the fuel gauge is used20:30
ac_laptopsicelo: is there a way to "copy" the fremantle behavior into leste ?20:30
sicelonot really. the idea is to use the same frameworks everywhere (kernel + upower)20:31
siceloplus, the fremantle stuff depended on some closed source stuff, bme20:31
sicelothere's really no problem with the fuel gauge in kernel.20:32
sicelonext time you find Leste refuses to boot, but Fremantle boots, show a `cat /sys/class/power_supply/rx51-battery/uevent` from Fremantle20:33
sicelo(correct the path if necessary)20:33
siceloi guess this will take us one step closer to solving your mystery20:34
ac_laptopsicelo: I couldn't find any /sys/class/power_supply under fremantle20:34
siceloon my N900 there is, but only rx51-battery20:35
sicelocan you double-check?20:35
ac_laptop/home/user # ls /sys/class/20:41
ac_laptopbacklight       gpio            ieee80211       mmc_host        rtc             spi_master      usb_host20:41

freemangordonWizzup: I doubt20:42
freemangordonI am trying es2 first20:42
freemangordonyeah, glimagesink is way slower than xv :(20:46
arno11freemangordon: FYI omp is broken since oct 22 or oct 25 on n900 iirc. previously able to play radio, music and video (laggy but working)20:47
freemangordondefine "broken"20:47
freemangordonalso, did you upgrafe mafw-gst-renderer?20:47
freemangordon*upgrade20:47
arno11the app was able to start, finding tracks but not starting to play20:48
siceloac_laptop: what version of Fremantle are you running? there should be an About Device in the Settings/Control Panel20:48
freemangordonarno11: please upgrade now20:48
arno11freemangordon: ok20:49
freemangordonarno11: if it still does not work, please report mafw-gst-renderer20:49
arno11mafw version 0.4.1+m720:52
arno11still not working20:52
freemangordonarn20:52
freemangordonoops20:52
freemangordonarno11: could you execute /usr/bin/mafw stop mafw-gst-renderer20:53

freemangordonand then:20:53

freemangordonoh, sorry21:01
freemangordonit is /usr/bin/mafw.sh stop mafw-gst-renderer21:01
arno11i already tried but still not working (?!)21:02
arno111 min21:02
freemangordonsorry, what does not work?21:02
freemangordonI want logs from mafw-gst-renderer21:02
freemangordonso, you should stop the one started by the system and start manually, with logs enabled21:03
freemangordonG_MESSAGES_DEBUG MAFW_LOG=all /usr/bin/mafw-dbus-wrapper mafw-gst-renderer is the cpmmand to start the renderer21:03
freemangordonso, what does not work?21:04
arno11yep i understand but still not able to run mafw stop, i've checked in the sh file, it's ok but the command is not working21:05
freemangordonwhat do you mean "not working"?21:05
freemangordonwhat do you expect to happen?21:05
freemangordonwhat is the output of ps -ef | grep mafw21:06
arno11whatever i do it says command not found, maybe i'm tired or silly lol21:06
freemangordondo you have mafw-dbus-daemon installed?21:07
ac_laptopsicelo: Maemo 5 version: 20.2010.36-221:07
arno11freemangordon: yep21:10
arno11let me few min to check what's going on on my device21:11
freemangordonok21:11
freemangordonbut mafw-dbus-daemon has /usr/bin/mafw.sh script21:12
freemangordonok, seems gst shaders are suboptimal, mpv os way faster using gl vo21:14
freemangordon*is way21:14
freemangordonttyl21:14
siceloac_laptop: ah ok. PR 1.321:15
sicelouvos__: there has been another reply, agreeing with the first. i guess ... it is what it is21:16
ac_laptopsicelo: do I need to do something ?21:16
sicelono21:16
siceloi guess rx51-battery comes with KP21:16
siceloi think when Leste refuses to boot, but Fremantle does, you can run some hal commands to see what fremantle thinks of your battery, then we can compare. you can look on tmo for useful hal commands. i never really used that :-)21:18
freemangordonok, seems glimagesink does not support I420 :(21:23
arno11freemangordon: ok i have to go but mafw-gst-renderer is installed but not working and not present in /usr/bin21:23
freemangordonheh21:24
arno11actually it is not running so impossible to stop21:24
freemangordonok, lets continue tomorrow21:24
arno11and start21:26
arno11ah wait21:27
arno11failed to create opemgl context21:29
arno11*opengl21:29
arno11and other errors...but i have to go. ttyl or tomorrow21:30
freemangordonok21:30
ac_laptopsicelo: tmo ?21:33
freemangordonarno11: oh, your n900 is still on 16bpp? won;t work, you have to switch back to 24bpp22:47
arno11freemangordon: nope the issue occured before switching to 16bpp22:52
freemangordonwell, glimagesink does not work on 16bpp22:53
arno11i can try tomorrow if you want, no probs22:53
arno11yes i remember22:53
freemangordonyes, please22:53
arno11well i just need few min to test :) i do it now22:55
arno11freemangordon: it works again if i start mafw-gst-renderer manually23:08
arno11otherwise same symptoms23:09
arno11in 24bpp ofc23:09
freemangordonmafw-gst-renderer should auto-start23:10
freemangordonlets continue tomorrow23:11
arno11yes ofc but that seems to be the issue23:11
arno11ok gn23:11
freemangordongn23:12
uvossometimes i wonder how people mange to download currupt files all the time23:43
uvosthis has essentally never happend to me...23:43
uvosand to somehow end up with a corrupt file from a git clone, you must have some serious bad luck, how dose that even happen.23:44
dsc_you repel cosmic rays23:46
uvosi would make a joke about my moms basement, but my parents dont have one.23:47
Wizzupwell microsd cards corrupt frequently23:51
Wizzupcheap ones especially23:51
uvossure but i was commenting on https://github.com/maemo-leste/bugtracker/issues/713 , no sdcard involved23:52
uvosand git checks the files after a clone, so how that happend is a mystery to me23:52
uvosor maybe his hdd/ssd is failing or something23:53
Wizzupah23:53
Wizzuphmm23:53
Wizzupor he flashed the wrong one somehow23:53
WizzupI am upgrading a d4 I have here and it's consistently failing with a dpkg-divert error on 85 input rules23:53
WizzupI totally forgot how to fix that23:54
uvosrm the offending file23:54

uvosok23:56
uvosso the solution to this23:56
uvoswas to remove the divert23:56
uvostheres a tool for this23:56
uvosi dont quite remember what its called23:56
uvosmaybe dpkg-divert23:56
Wizzupah manually remove the diversion?23:57
